We bring people together to make positive change
We’re a collective of specialists in engagement, training, facilitation and consulting with a wide range of backgrounds and professional and lived experience.
Since 2000, we’ve completed over 1,000 projects. We believe that, if we want to overcome the challenges we face in our communities, we have to think and do things differently.
Here are some ways we stand out.
We refuse to specialise in one sector
Society’s challenges are big and messy and complex, so it helps to have a
depth and breadth of understanding.
By working in all kinds of contexts – from schools and housing estates, to
universities and businesses – we see how these issues impact different groups
and communities. And how issues are interrelated – for example, how
employment is affected by housing, health, and education.
Working within one sector is simply too narrow for us. We need a broad
perspective so we can pull together the different strands to find a way forward.

We’re driven by values, not profit
We call ourselves a ‘social business’. Making a profit isn’t our first priority – instead, we want to take on different kinds of challenges and create projects that can have a lasting impact on people and communities.
We believe in striving to achieve ambitious goals because we know the
extraordinary is possible.
We can handle complex projects
Within the Kaizen network, we have over 1,250 years of professional experience, giving us a deep well of knowledge and resources across various disciplines.
We work in complex situations that others might not feel equipped to. For example, engaging with the Grenfell community to shape the vision for the Grenfell Tower Memorial.
We don’t always have all the answers at the start of a project. But we’re confident in co-designing with others, and we have the experience and expertise to learn and adapt as a project evolves.

We serve people, not clients
The best way to serve our clients is to serve the people they work with.
This sometimes means challenging our clients to think differently and change
plans to create truly impactful work. By being honest and unafraid of difficult
conversations, we achieve better results together.

So what’s with the name?
Kaizen is a compound of two Japanese words that together translate as ‘good change’ or ‘continuous improvement’.
It’s important to us that that’s not just a name, it’s a practice. This means that, when a piece of work is really effective, we don’t think ‘How can we repeat that?’ but, ‘How can we improve it?’

Organisations we work with
From local authorities and schools, to Premier League football clubs and international businesses. We work with anyone committed to seeing positive change in the world.
